The Colts Start Their Push to Make the Playoffs
Indianapolis has had a winning season so far, and I think they have a shot of getting into the playoffs. Their first test will be a Titans team that isn’t doing as well but can trip them up. The Titans are 4-0 in home games that weren’t played in London. Their new quarterback, Will Levis, kept that streak going by beating the Falcons on Oct 29 and last week against the Panthers.
The Colts are without quarterback Anthony Richardson for the remainder of the season and running back Jonathan Taylor for the next 2 or 3 weeks. Gardner Minshew has been starting for the Colts since Week 6, and after three straight losses, has turned the team around with three consecutive wins. That’s also a testament to Shane Steichen’s coaching skills.
If Minshew doesn’t get rattled by Tennessee’s defense, his team has the potential to break the Titans’ home-winning streak. The Colts should be able to win and cover on Sunday.
The Steelers are Given an Easy Schedule to Make the Playoffs
The Cardinals are one of the worst teams in the league, but they did win against the Falcons recently. It was a close one, and it was at home. Nothing seems to go right for them, as they haven’t scored more than 16 points on their six losses on the road. Pittsburgh’s defense has allowed an average of only 15.7 points per game in the last six weeks, so they should have no problem with Arizona.
Pittsburgh has a 7-4 record, but that’s not good enough to get into the playoffs. They fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada in hopes of improving their points totals. New play-caller Mike Sullivan brought the total offensive yards up to 424 yards last week, but it only generated 16 points. The Steelers should be able to increase those points against the Cardinals to cover the spread easily.
The Cowboys Are at a Pivotal Point of the Season
Dallas is having a stand-out season. They’ve scored more points than anyone else in the NFL (347) and have the largest point differential by far (162). They have won all of their home games and are the first team in NFL history to win their first five home games of the season by 20 or more points.
Now for the downside. They have yet to beat a team with a winning record. Seattle has a winning record. The Cowboys need to show they can beat the better teams because otherwise, the rest of the season will be a disaster as they take on The Eagles, Dolphins, and Lions. No one expects the Seahawks to win this game because their offense continues to struggle, but they could cover the spread as they are 3-2 ATS on the road.
Can the Packers Make Two Upsets in a Row?
Based on the last four weeks, Green Bay is a winning team (3-1), and they capped it off with a dramatic upset against the Lions. It was arguably their best game of the season, which begs the question: Was it a one-time thing, or will we continue to see this type of play come out of the Packers?
Jordan Love’s completion rate went from 58%, averaging 6.4 yards per attempt, to 65%, averaging 8.0 yards per attempt. He’ll be facing the best defense he’s seen this season, so don’t expect miracles. Even if they rattle the Chiefs like the Raiders did at the beginning of last week’s game, Mahomes will still have the comeback to win and cover.
