Which NFL Teams Will Be in Super Bowl LIX?

The Kansas City Chiefs have done what few teams have: They’ve won two Super Bowls. What they’re hoping to do this season is something no NFL team has ever done: win the Super Bowl three years in a row.

Few doubt that the Chiefs can make it to the Super Bowl again. They still have a formidable team led by coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. So, who will they go up against this year?

NFC Division Leaders Who Could Line Up Against the Chiefs

The best way to break down the top teams is to look at the divisions. The Chiefs have a good chance of making the playoffs because of their relatively easy division. They just have to stay ahead of the Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers to get a playoff berth. So, who might they go up against in the NFC?

NFC West

San Francisco is also in a reasonably easy division, but it wouldn’t matter because they are rated at the top or near the top of the league. Unfortunately, they have an aging team that might not have another chance at the prize after this year. Being in an easier division might allow them to rest their veterans to lower the risk of injury before the playoffs like the Chiefs did last year.

The Cardinals might be able to keep the 49ers honest if they get a full season from Kyle Murray. They only won four games last season but could see a leap in wins with their offseason rebuild.

NFC East

The Eagles fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson because he and Jalen Hurts could not work together successfully. The results of their collaboration were evident in the final weeks of last season. Hurts seems more motivated to learn new coordinator Kellen Moore’s system, which should help the team’s chances of winning the NFC East and challenging the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

NFC North

The Lions will probably dominate this division again, although the Packers might be able to catch them if Jordan Love continues where he left off last season.

If the 49ers stumble during the playoffs, the Lions could be the next team to face the Chiefs in the championship game.

AFC Teams That Could Dethrone Kansas City

Although many think the Chiefs will be in the next Super Bowl, other teams in the AFC plan to challenge that assumption and take out the Chiefs before the big game.

AFC North

The Baltimore Ravens might have the best chance of beating the Chiefs before the Super Bowl. They are in a tougher division and will have to contend with the Bengals, who will once again hope for a healthy Joe Burrow. This is Burrow’s fifth season, and he is recovering from surgery on his throwing wrist. He’s yet to have a normal training camp. Hopefully, this will be his first. When he does well, so do the Bengals.

AFC East

The Patriots aren’t expected to make much of a splash, but the Jets have done their best to prepare their team for Aaron Rodgers’ return. But it all hinges on Rodgers. Will he be his former MVP self, or has too much rust formed over his 40-year-old frame?

The real threat is Miami. They can take the Bills off the top of the division or at least get a wild card entry into the playoffs. Buffalo might not have receiver Stefon Diggs anymore, but Josh Allen will be playing behind a solid offensive line and should be able to lead the division and maybe even topple the Chiefs in the playoffs.

AFC South

The Texans are being talked about a lot this off-season, partly because many people were enamored with C.J. Stroud’s rookie abilities last season. But the team has also strengthened its roster. They have left tackle Laremy Tunsil, receivers Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs, and running back Joe Mixon. On defense, they have end Danielle Hunter and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

The Jaguars could threaten the Texans, but it looks doubtful unless Trevor Lawrence can turn his game around. He is an elite player in stretches. Lawrence had five consecutive games where his passer rating was over 91, but he can’t keep it together for an entire season. He also has 60 turnovers in the last three years, more than any other quarterback. Lawrence has also been prone to injuries, especially last year, when he had four. That’s a lot to overcome in one offseason.
