Diverging Teams: Lakers vs Clippers Game Analysis
Not only are these two teams close geographically, but they’re also close in the standings. The Lakers have three more wins than the Clippers, with a 34-21 record. In their last 11 games, they’ve only lost twice in a two-game losing streak against the Jazz and the Hornets. Both are basement teams, so I’m not sure what happened there. Maybe the Lakers expected newly acquired star Luka Dončić to make a bigger impact. Continue reading our Lakers vs Clippers prediction to see which team is the best candidate to win.
LeBron James continues to be a point-generator for the Lakers, netting 25 points against the Nuggets on Saturday, nine rebounds, and five assists. Luka Dončić had a rough start as a new Laker. His first three games were disappointing, but against the Lakers, when they needed him most, he performed. Dončić dropped 32 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. He and James now look like the Dynamic Duo and will only improve as they gel with each other’s groove.
The Clippers, meanwhile, are trying to overcome their slump. Norman Powell is averaging 24.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, while James Harden is averaging 21.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per contest.
Strange Losses: Los Angeles Lakers Recent Scores
Let’s assume that the Lakers’ recent losses to lower teams were due to fatigue, and they thought they could relax and not have to try as much. Having worked so hard to beat teams like the Pacers and Clippers, they let their guard down because they thought they had easy wins. It’s a good lesson for the coaching team that won’t soon be forgotten.
They average 118.2 points per game and 108.3 points against in the last 10 games. The last time they took on the Clippers on February 4th, they won by a decisive 122 – 97. But prior to that, when they met on January 19th, it was the Clippers who were victorious, 116 – 102.
Slumptown: Los Angeles Clippers Recent Scores
The Clippers have not been doing as well over the last ten games. They’ve lost six of those but won on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls 122 – 117. They’re only three games behind the Lakers in the standings, but their recent slump could be a cause for concern. At least they beat the Jazz in their last two meetups, even though the last one was in overtime.
Lakers vs Clippers Score Prediction
The Clippers have the fourth-stingiest defense in the league, only allowing 108.5 points per game. Will they be able to keep the “new” Lakers at bay?
As usual, the injury report can be the deciding factor in this game. LeBron James may be out with an ankle injury. He’s played through these before, but we won’t know until Saturday.
For the Clippers, Norman Powell is day-to-day with a knee injury.
Our prediction for this game is that the Lakers will overpower the Clippers and continue their winning streak with their two top stars. Remember to stay tuned with us at BossAction to know everything that happens in the sports world.
